Domain verification and troubleshooting

Verify domain ownership and resolve common setup issues.

A custom domain is your own domain connected to a site. Verification confirms domain ownership before the domain is used to serve your site.

Enforced rules and constraints

  • Custom domains are available on paid plans.
  • Domain ownership verification uses a DNS TXT record containing a verification value.
  • A domain may be restricted to a single site at a time. If you can’t add a domain, it may already be connected elsewhere.

Edge cases and failure states

  • DNS changes can take time to propagate. If verification fails immediately after adding the record, wait and try again.
  • www and non-www domains can behave differently depending on your DNS setup. Follow the exact domain you entered when configuring verification.
  • If a custom domain is configured but not verified, visitors may see a verification warning instead of your site.

What is NOT supported

  • Using a custom domain before verification is completed.
